Plain Water is Life

Drinking plain water is essential to your health!

UNC Walk for Health seeks to raise awareness of and prevent dehydration, a leading cause of death. Chronic health conditions, such as headaches, fatigue, fever, dementia, constipation, and lower back problems come from not drinking enough plain water.

Researchers estimate that half of the world’s population is chronically dehydrated. And in the United States, that level is even higher at 75 percent of the population.

REDUCE YOUR CANCER RISK

Half of all men and a third of women will get one of the 100-plus forms of cancer in their lifetimes.

A study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention shows that people who drink two or more sugar-sweetened soft drinks a week are 87 percent more likely to get pancreatic cancer. Researchers suspect that the sugar in the colas bumps up insulin, which has been shown to contribute to pancreatic cancer cell growth.
